And the fish flies ♓ I got a website

“ I want to be the best I can be to render myself useful for existence. ”

The fish flies, I have a website:

There's a page with my portfolio. There's my About. There's also a shop page, it's still to be filled, but the intention is all there. There's a section all dedicated to my project Felice, for the book, the performance, the paintings and illustrations, and more (it will keep growing, there's much that not here nor on the Facebook page I have posted yet).
I'm so much in love with my website!

I made it with WordPress.org and installing an Organic Theme, which turned out as a very smooth choice; I like their style and I appreciated their kind helpfulness on the forum. If you're thinking about building your website and you're up to spend some money on a theme, personally my thumb is up for them.

The .gif above was done with the rotoscope technique, which always gives me a terrible pleasure of freedom. (And since .gif are finally getting more supported by websites and are fun, well, consider sharing my messy banner, if you like it. Smuack!)

Much more freedom is also what I'll feel now for my blog, because in the last years I was treating it a bit too much like a portfolio instead of enjoying it more spontaneously as a narrative tool. Now that I got a more proper platform to organize my art, I will finally get back to the lighter stream that this place was till some years ago. It will be a little more like a journal, let's say. Probably I will also use it to express more explicitly some opinions non strictly related to my projects or to art, but most of all, I will be probably posting more sketches, work in progress, divertissement and any kind of small thing.
Basically, my website is now the showcase –– genuinely mine, but all well dusted and organized. And this blog, instead, is my home, folks, and in my home I do not remove the spider webs…

…Speaking of which, and speaking of spontaneity and little, little things, there is a video I've been almost hiding for months, here to you, out of the blue. Please, steal six minutes of silence from your daily roar, if you want to join my trance.

*

Now, as thanking is one of my favourite activity, some of the big thanks for my website (trying not to thank each bee and leaf, so that perhaps I won't loose ALL my readers, nor my night…).

Thanks to all my dear freaks who I bothered while I was struggling to find the perfect url. (Including that critique that I skipped.)

Thanks to Natalja Mara Heybroek, who brilliantly helped my Statement for the About page.
That manifesto makes me feel terribly good and her gentle and wise touch was mind blowing.

And thanks to Rib., who deserved a thanking page only for that; what she did is too much to explain. Even after several months, I didn't make it yet to let her understand.
She's a tiny, tender mystery.

*

(   …Oh, ohhh man, it feels so good to be back here!

I hope you enjoyed the spiderwebs and that you don't mind the dust.

Welcome in my haven.
Relax, and laugh.  (:   )

LET IT HAPPEN, Magic Masha! ::: [PREPARATION FOR A VIDEO: BEG YOUR MUSE.]

These photographs were waiting in my hard disc. They are some experiments I had made out of a little session done for another purpose. They are extra-gifts of an afternoon.

I've just seen that the new single from Tame Impala came out––oh yeah, I'm a fan of them, I couldn't wait a single second to play it!
As I started to listen to it, closing my eyes, I've seen this my friend dancing, the unique, spontaneous, FREE, joyful, soft, a bit childish, so deep being so light, sweet, pure, original, playful, AUTHENTIC way she dances. So, it's much different from the moods you see here above, actually, but these photographs came in mind 'cause there is just her. Just her.
And as I had those visions, I felt like I HAD to make a video for this song, only with her dancing. Stop. I need to.
Now I'm begging her to do it. She's surely now sleeping and I'm looking for hearing her answer. It will be hard, I know, 'cause we manage to be too busy, already, fuck, all the time. But I hope we make it.
I'd need only one day.
Soon.

Please, Masha!

"Why Do You Knit?", a short-movie/long-trip (by one me ago)

I thank my friend Masha for insisting on making me subtitle my old short movie Perché lavori ai ferri?.

I made this raving, paranoic film more than four years ago, for an experimental course of my Bachelor in Media Design and Multimedial Arts; this very interesting course was named Theater, Real, Reality. I was already late and I had to hurry up, so many things aren't well done. Above all, now I hear different calls, so this film doesn't tell anymore what I feel I want to share.
Still, I think I never made anymore something good like that, in movies: the direction, the editing, was terribly fitting the idea – and I sincerely think there is "something extra". Because of the duende and because that time I probably made it to reach one of the effect I mostly care in cinema: that thing someone calls "Psychorealism".
I think there is "something extra" also because of not a few people telling me they did find much of themselves in it.
I want to thank them too, their feedbacks have been very important to me, to understand what I had done and what I could do, especially in that period of my life, so insecure.
All this, though, happened within the Italian language, so now I'm very curious to see if this video can create any similar reactions also subtitled in English, to not Italian speakers; it will be a little challenging – so, please, feel free to comment or write to me…

Well. Enjoy.
(But not too much.)

By the way, smiles, yarns and strangers are still among my favourite elements.
…As one can tell by the previous post, after all.

A White Summer

So. Here we are. Me and my thoughtmate Natalja Heybroek.

There is a story I desire to tell about this performance.

But now I feel it's time to only kindly watering you with our Whiteness without whispering anything else (here where Natalja does it her way).

Please, open your lungs and come in.

Thanks again to Marilù and Dorotea Pace, for the upcoming photographs and the shots.

Thanks to Helena Sanders, for giving us her lovely atelier as our base.

Thanks to Heidi Harris, for her song Carved In.

Thanks to Carved In itself.

Thanks to life, for letting me create with these beautiful people.

Come again, if you like to peek some magic more.

Love,
Eleonora

Heidi Harris – Animal Insect /// THE MUSIC VIDEO

when they ask you what did you make, don't say you made a video. because it would be as if a climber were asked: "what did you make?" and he answered "I made a hole and I pushed the flag down as deep as I could".

*

Working on this project, I often smiled thinking about how it was sweet that a song from the other side of the Ocean was making me discover so much more Utrecht, the town where I moved around one year ago and that I'm loving so intensely each istant.

Two nights ago, when Animal Insect was already going online, I was a bit contemplating on the Internet the place in which the inspiration found Heidi Harris when she wrote Animal Insect: Brooklyn. She lived on its roofs till some weeks ago (now she's in another zone of New York City). I already knew that first New York was New Amsterdam, well, this something commonly pretty known, as the Dutch people was among who started the city of the current New York, but I found out only that night that the etymology of Brooklyn is "Breukelen". I guess that for a lot of you "Breukelen" doesn't mean anything, but Breukelen is a small place right in the province of Utrecht.

So one day I'll go in Breukelen with the fish made of shells that found me some weeks ago in my favourite magic antiek, De Oude Pijpenlade. And with some white yarn. It could be useful.

Meanwhile, I'm glad to finally let run around our creature…

••••

Animal Insect is part of the new album by Heidi Harris, Cut the Line, available here.

Our deep collaboration has a lot to do also with the vinyl, for which I have the honour of seeing my artworks going around on such a lovely musical object.

••••

I would to thank once again here each energy that brought us here.

Thanks to Erica Lanzoni, that shared with me some of her visions, months ago.

Thanks to Vere Van de Meerendonk, for all the unbelievable intensity with which went into this idea, since the first time that I mentioned it to her.

Thanks to Jul Jackalope, the custodian that guides my consciousness between all the different levels of reality.

Thanks to Dorotea Pace, that importantly fed the story and sweetly, patiently listened my brainstorming, even if it went like a psychiatrical examination («Doctor, doctor, I saw a strange creature and some yards and and and [endless mysterious vague gesticulate] and and I don't know maybe something else but I swear I see something more just over there keep letting me talk perhaps I'm gonna have I'm gonna have it I'm gonna see it wait wait wait Doctor here we go it's coming it's coming it's coming, Doctor Dò, I really some maybe mumble tomorrow a day and an eye and uh, a "rocket", did you say?»).

Thanks to Cornelis Plet, for the object number 890431, that I payed with the sticker of a Unicorn.

Thanks to my chabbi, Carolina Farina, that came directly from Paris, taking many photographs (that will be around soon) and helped me with any kind of fuckin' bothering problem, also when I was losing a little little bit my focusing and I was probably sounding as a very annoying silly troublemaker. And letting me repeat all the time to everybody that we were basically celebrating our great meaningful 10th anniversary of friendship, tolerating my violent joy overdose. (No, unless that you met me, you probably cannot imagine how I can turn exactly in this kind of phenomena; I can be tiring for real.)

Thanks to Pema Tigelaar, that opened herself to all my requests and also helped me a lot – above all realising the old hope that I had when many months ago I secretly written her name on my ideas notebook.

Thanks to Dirk van de Veek, for respectfully letting me interpretate.

Thanks to Rudi Bonfiglioli, for that absurd moment in which I saw him so shocked contemplating the shootings with himself with Masha.

Thanks to Masha Rozhnova, that after fitting so perfectly the picture that I drawn for her, turned in one of the best art-mate of my whole life.

Thanks to Elodie Clemence Romero, for all her interior process and for that question for which I deeply wish a proper conversation together, one day… in Montpellier.

Thanks to Wilma Kun, for the rare calm seriousness with which she worked and, of course, for letting me freely film her artworks at her home. (And for the tasty launch!)

Thanks to Siggy De La Blues, because when I explained to him his role, he said «I knew».

Thanks to Iggy Antoine Fornerino, for his enthusiasm, his suggestions and his spontaneous reaction when I saw him watching the video still in the timeline.

Thanks to Patricia Elders, because after my tale to the phone about the concept, when I was still a complete stranger, she then just said «It's like my life». And, in the end, she loved our strange experience so much, anyway.

Thanks to Mechelien, even if in the end she missed the shootings. For her sparkling eyes in the basement of her shop, that unique afternoon.

Thanks to the best special guest ever, the random dog in the park! And thanks to Simone Franceschini, that tried first to finding a-not-so-randome-one.

Thanks to a kind of "reluctant messiah" with which certain concepts started.

Thanks to Cory Zaradur and to Inner Ocean Records – how couldn't I love a music label with such an evoking name?

A special thanks to the Municipality of Utrecht and to the artists Jan Hein Daniëls and Willem Hoebink, authors of the artwork that I filmed at the Pausdam, an installation part of the project Trajectum Lumen, that makes even more psychedelic and magic walking through Utrecht, enlightening some meaningful spots of this historical city.

 – The etymology of Utrecht, indeed, is the Latin word for "trajectory". And I smile again every time that I think about this, because totally looks like that this place is exactly supposed to be on the way, also the way of the bunch of people that comes from elsewhere and will go somewhere else again. –

So, in the end, thanks to Utrecht, this intense place where I'm finding so many inspiring homes.

And thanks to Heidi,
 for all her whole harmonically behave into an idea of creative process so nicely closed to mine, in which the art itself comes first;
 for deciding to share so much with me;
for being able to see I what I see too.

Thanks to the magic;
thanks to the synchronicity.

And thanks to all of you, if you will enjoy the wave or if you won't at all, if you'll keep what it will generate for your inner world or if you'll creating a new sharing with it.

This was what Enda told me a few moments after watching the music video for Animal Insect.

This post isn't supposed to be my perception of the hole and the flag.
This would be eventually up to you, to let me see how they look from your point of view – because the art keeps to work and grow in the eyes of the watcher, to hopefully turn in something new.
Here I just wanted to whisper a few things about all the long tripping on the mountain and the friends that came with me – even if not the whole tale neither.
The whole tale is called "Life"
and I'm exactly wishing you enjoy it.

"Mayla" – Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

After a very long time, finally I made another video. It's something very simple, but for me it's really precious. It's precious come back to that dear dimension of the audiovisual language and it's unbelievable precious this specific situation: my loved band Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros published a video contest for the new album Here. I chosen the song Mayla.
There are many tales behind this project, but I'd like let you watch it without too many introductory words. So, just enjoy it!

I would write something again only to let sing my huge Thankfulness to some people.

Thanks to Isa and Jesebel Braggie, the gorgeous child and the sweet woman that performed for me. And thanks to the Isa's parents too.

Thanks to my thoughtmate Natalja Heybroek that inspired me with the concept of circle and harmony.

Thanks to Carolina Farina for her amazing handmade book.

Thanks to Marloes Stellaard, 'cause she's the indirect great creator of almost all those special things and corners that I recorded.

Thanks to Alberto Mocellin and Gianvito Cofano and their patience and goodness and severity with me.

Thanks to those Eyes that I look to rise.

Thanks to all friends of mine and to all the strangers, sisters and brothers, mothers and fathers, that have jumped with me singing the songs of this special band.

Uh oh, sorry, actually I've something else that I'd like say here.
Now I'm very curious to watch with calm the other entries, but I can already feel a common attitude, closed to the band's spirit and to mine. Just this it's enough to make me joyful and let me grow up better a certain hope – a hope just about the human future. I know that it can sound naive. And, well, it is! But it's so special feel that there are several beings with a similar idea of peace and harmony… (Because I think that this is the real core of the question.) To you all film makers of this contest and to the rest of the world: love, love, love.

Home.

My first home will for ever be the one of my childhood. Maybe it's better say it in Italian: Casa. But, at the same time, I know that there are many homes for us all, hidden in the world, and you only have to start your discovery.
Moving to Nederland, I had prepared myself to adapt in every acceptable corner. Instead I was infinitely lucky: I've found a place that feels like home more than what I can imagine ― and, above all, something feels like home in the creatures that live here too.
These creatures are three: Itchy and Eek are the furry ones, Natalja is the one that cures the guitar.

Did you want to know why Natalja was blowing bubbles? *

Welcome Outside!

 * Natalja was blowing bubbles for our little shortmovie to partecipate to D.E. S.I.C.A., a fuckin' cool video contest organized by Cremonapalloza, in which you had to create a story in only 24 hours. Here you can watch all the videos of this last edition (do it!). In the end we were out of the competition 'cause we were a bit in delay. Our shortmovie was really simple and perhaps too much conceptual, but it was however a magic experience for us and we are however happy of our little treasure. The title is the same of the theme of the competition: Spazi comunicanti.

PS. Grazie fatina! :3

Altrove

Fino all'ultimo, ho sperato di farcela.

Questo deposita in me consolata e mesta fierezza.

{GABBIA 20}

silenzio

{GABBIA 18}
